The Gloomy Tower (of London)
Not so much the Tower of London as the Tower against London, erected on the orders of William the Conqueror to tighten his grip on the River Thames. This is England’s citadel, home to ravens, racks, Beefeaters and the biggest dressed diamond in the world, in the sceptre of the Crown Jewels. The heads of two English queens have rolled on Tower Green. Come walk under the Bloody Tower.
